Two Tone Pictures

My friend Shirley asked if I knew how to make pop art in Photoshop. She showed me the picture and gave me the link to the tutorial she saw. I attempted it, but don't know if I succeeded. I had a hard time getting bright colors.

Here was a Picture of my baby #2 it was taken when he was 9 days old:Here is my 1st attempt, I kind of liked the softer colors.

Here is my second attempt:
This is the tutorial she gave me.
http://designdazzle.blogspot.com/2009/02/how-to-make-pop-art-for-kids.html I didn't really use the curve numbers that were in the tutorial, because when I did it looked nothing like her picture. What I found was the most helpful was to drag the points around and played with them until I got what I liked.

I can't Photoshop Everything...Plastic Surgery Gone Wrong

I had another friend ask if I could try and help her with a picture that had gotten ink on it. I told her I could "try" but I was really nervous about the lady's face.
Here is the before picture.

The after picture....
Can we say plastic surgery gone wrong? I'm sure you can guess what my response was to my friend..."you better find someone else to help you." I guess I can't Photshop everything yet, maybe someday.

Fixing Damaged Photos

My friend had this picture of her Grandpa that had gotten bent. She wanted to be able to hang it on her wall, but didn't like the wrinkles. She asked if I could help and I told her I could.
I had her scan the picture into a high resolution file (300 DPI) and had her send it to me. By using the clone stamp and the healing brush I was able to get rid of most of the wrinkles. She was very happy with the finished picture.
Here are the before and after pictures:

It's Been Awhile....

I have been working on stuff, but have been too lazy, busy, non motivated to post them. So I will try and add some of the stuff I have done over the summer.

Now that the weather is getting cooler outside we will be inside more and hopefully I will have more time to post. :)

This was a very quick and easy tutorial I did off of youtube. It is called: Quick & Easy Abstract Background (click on the name of the tutorial to connect to the link)

It really was quick and easy and teaches you how to use and a use for the gradient tool. I have never used the gradient tool. There are so many possibilities of what you can make. For a basic definition of what you create in this tutorial is an abstract background or an even more basic name, a tie dyed background.

Here is my final background with a picture added. :)

Speed Scrapping

I love, Love, LOVE this challenge that Alishaw did on the Digital Scrapbook Memories Forum called Speed Scrap Layouts. She did a series of 5 of them. To give you an idea of what speed scrapping is, I will post one of her challenges.

Speed Scrap Layout #5
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Play along with Speed Scrap Layout #5! For each step get out your kitchen timer and set it to 2 minutes. Of course this is just a fun way to get pages completed quickly and to see what others will do with the same instructions. You have 24 hours from this post to create your page and post it to your Speed Scrap album including a link/preview here.

SS#5
1. Choose 3-4 photos and crop them all into square shapes then add to layout
2. Add 1 plain paper and 1 pattern paper in any shape
3. Add something round
4. Add an embellishment
5. Add the date
6. Add a title
7. Add some journaling
8. Add shadows and save

I love the direction and how simple she makes the rules. Here is my page from this challenge. If anyone reads this post, I challenge you to try a page of your own, speed scrapping style. :)

DSM Birthday Sale

Digital Scrapbook Memories is having an awesome birthday sale right now. If you have ever thought about getting into digital stuff, right now is the time to buy. (if you already have photoshop or elements) They have 4 CDs that are $5 each,, regularly $14.95 and $24.95. The great thing about having DSM CDs, is they have challenges on their forums and in the challenges you have to use the majority of their stuff for the challenges. Usually there are prizes you can win if you complete the challenges. It has been a lot of fun for me to do the challenge and I have learned so much doing them.

Here is the link to the CD Sale https://store.digitalscrapbookmemories.com/index.php/catalog/category/view/id/3 . At up to 80% off, I highly recommend getting at least a few CDs. :)

Creating Striped Ribbon

This tutorial shows how to make your own ribbon. She did the tutorial in Elements 5, so once again things were a little different when I tried to do them in Photoshop CS3, but it was fun to do. http://everydaydigitalscrapbooking.blogspot.com/2007/04/now-create-your-own-striped-ribbon-with.html
Here is my finished ribbon.

Selective Color

This was one of the first things Teri showed me how to do in Photoshop. It is a really neat and pretty easy technique to do. So I figured I would find a tutorial and post it here. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X2lkv9Ztr8I&feature=channel
